Times continue to be good in the card world.
We’re seeing a weak dollar and market fears coming to the fore as U.S. and Iranian tensions escalate anew.
Many content creators are crying out about the end of the Pokemon bull market just because some sales have been down recently. It’s a when-not-if, but a soft week is certainly not a death-knell for a market.
The News
Imagine getting slapped by the GOAT
Greetings from Fanatics Fest!
The biggest news so far is Tom Brady slapping the hell out of Logan Paul onstage. This Will Smith Oscars moment is brought to you by two grown men arguing about flag football, apparently.
Fanatics Fest is an incredible experience so far. Every where you look there are athletes walking around. Oh and the card selection is very nice from what I’m seeing so far.
The really incredible thing is seeing how strong The Hobby is right now. Young and old are filling up a multi-million square foot convention center. The excitement is palpable, and the passion is really evident on the faces of those I see buying at the showcases.
Fanatics Fest feels more like an event than a card show. The National is great, but FF in my opinion has it outclassed in every quality except sheer volume of cards.
I highly recommend making the trip next year.
The Framework
Short one today, since I’ve been slammed with preparation and travel.
I’ve been musing on sealed wax and how strong the long term value accumulation is for strong sets. I believe that there’s a strong correlation between the rookie class and the price of the sealed wax, and I wonder if there are also pockets of undervalued assets on the sealed side.
